Hey, Long Beach State! I hope your midterms haven't been too difficult so far. I'd like to remind all students that ASI has resources specifically designed to ease your stress and keep you going strong. Check out
Beach Balance to find out how you can maximize your student fees and maintain wellness through the difficult parts of the semester. Other than that, check out what we've been up to this past week!
As some of you may know, ASI and university officials are currently working with local elders to come up with a solution regarding the 22-acres construction. We are looking forward to a productive discussion that will illuminate a path towards compromise with respect to their interest in preserving this sacred land.
Additionally, our efforts to establish a legal clinic on campus are ongoing. We are currently doing our due diligence to find appropriate funding and an accessible location to ensure legal assistance for all students. We'll keep you updated!
The Cal State Student Association is currently working to adopt a stance of opposition for the proposed additional quantitative reasoning requirement, which will create barriers for CSU applicants and deepen disparities in higher education.
Another update is in regards to our campus master plan, which is currently being developed. As we move forward with the construction of new dorms and the new alumni center, other projects are certain to begin soon in order to maximize space on campus and diversify resources for students.
Lastly, work is ongoing for the creation of cultural welcomes for incoming students and their parents. These orientations will enrich students' lives by strengthening their cultural identities, and they will make our campus prouder, brighter and more expressive.
Thanks for taking a second to check up on your student government, and enjoy the rest of your week!
