The Human Side of Human Resources

Greetings, Retail Services members! This month we are emphasizing ways to improve employee recruitment and retention.

With the full re-opening of Washington state on June 30, a large number of employers have not been able to fill employee positions, preventing businesses from opening at full capacity. Retailers have experienced a multitude of adversities in their efforts to stay afloat due to the pandemic, but the hardships experienced by laid-off and unemployed workers may not be as obvious.

How employers hire, train, manage, encourage, support, and reward their employees can significantly affect the probability of attracting qualified employees, ultimately impacting the success of their businesses.
