Generational Voices of Resistance and Change

Charles County Government has worked, in partnership with Charles County Public Schools students and members of the Pomonkey High School Alumni Association, to create a special video series to be released this month.


In a powerful collaboration of voices, tune in to hear conversations between some of our youngest and oldest Charles County residents as they share their generation’s experiences, challenges, and celebrations of the African-American experience in Charles County.

Property Tax Assessment Appeal Board and Planning Commission Openings

Want to get involved in your community? Consider applying to a board, committee, or commission! A few recent openings include three vacancies for the Property Tax Assessment Appeal Board (a Governor-appointed board, nominated by County Commissioners); and a citizen member for the Planning Commission.

Call for Artists for Public Art Project

Use your artistic gifts to bring vibrancy to a community space in Waldorf! We are seeking public art to include two- to three-dimensional sculpture, seating, walkways, and landscape design features. More details here


This project is supported in part by the Maryland State Arts Council (msac.org).

Apply to Historic Marker Program

We are accepting applications to recognize historically significant sites in Charles County, especially those with stories that are not widely known or are under-represented in local history.

Tax Prep Help for Seniors and Moderate to Low-Income Adults

Preparation for tax season is underway at the Richard R. Clark Senior Center. The Senior Information and Assistance Office is partnering with AARP Tax-Aide to assist seniors and moderate to low-income adults with income tax preparation. This is a free of cost service! 


Tax-aide volunteers have already begun scheduling appointments for the Income Tax Preparation Program. We are excited to assist individuals in person this year!

Warming Centers Available

Warming centers are available if you or someone you know need relief from the cold. A list of locations here. If you need shelter outside of these facilities’ hours, please call the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-2222. 

COVID-19 Vaccination Updates

Get Your COVID-19 Booster Dose at Department of Health

The new bivalent booster doses are now available at all Charles County Department of Health COVID-19 vaccination clinics.

Flu Shot Clinics Available

The CDC recommends that adults get a flu vaccine by the end of October. The flu vaccine has been shown to reduce flu related illnesses and the risk of serious flu complications that can result in hospitalization or even death.
