The Squamish Youth Council will work to collaborate with District of Squamish Council, staff, and partner agencies on initiatives that support the implementation of the Squamish Youth Strategy.
BE BRIGHT AT NIGHT THIS SEASON
The District of Squamish, ICBC, and the RCMP are once again reminding residents to be bright and be seen with the annual Be Bright @ Night campaign that focuses on safety and visibility while travelling in the dark fall and winter months. Now in its tenth year, the Be Bright @ Night campaign, launched initially by the Squamish Trails Society, is a plea for all cyclists and pedestrians to wear brightly coloured clothing and reflective gear when out on dark winter roads and a reminder of the importance of reflective accessories and gear for pets. Pedestrian reflectors are available at Municipal Hall and Brennan Park Recreation Centre while quantities last.

Keep our wildlife safe during the spooky season
Pumpkins on doorsteps are an invitation for bears to feed, let’s help keep bears wild and the public safe by taking necessary precautions to limit their access to these food sources.

  • Bring carved pumpkins inside at night or better yet, showcase pumpkins in a front window with a battery-operated tea light!
  • Pumpkins are very odorous as they begin to rot – be sure to dispose of old pumpkins properly in your organics tote and be sure to keep it locked tight!
  • Don’t display carved pumpkins in a bear’s natural habitat, keep Halloween decorations off trails and out of parks.
