WHAT'S ON AT LET'S TALK SQUAMISH
Council discussions on the proposed 2022-2026 Five Year Financial Plan have begun. Council and staff are working hard to meet our community's needs today while planning for the Squamish of tomorrow.
We want to hear from Squamish residents to create a plan that is a good fit for the neighbourhood, improves the livability of the area, and supports larger community goals outlined in the OCP.

Coming up at District of Squamish Council! Councillor Doug Race is here with your look ahead at what’s coming up at Council for Tuesday, October 19. Limited public attendance is allowed in Council Chambers but watching and participating online is still encouraged.

Tune in to Council meetings as they happen at squamish.ca/live-meetings.

*New age requirement! Masks continue to be required in all public indoor settings for all people born in 2016 or earlier (5+). Please visit our website for more information on current COVID-19 regulations including the proof of vaccination requirements, current PHO orders, and upcoming drop-in vaccine clinic dates and times.

HIGH STREAMFLOW ADVISORY ISSUED FOR HOWE SOUND
A moderate atmospheric river event is expected to impact the region starting Friday, bringing an extended period of rainfall across southwest British Columbia. Environment and Climate Change Canada is forecasting 75-150 mm of total rainfall for most areas over the two-day period from Friday to Sunday.

Rivers are expected to rise rapidly on Friday and into Saturday in response to rainfall, with peak flows expected on Saturday. The public is advised to stay clear of the fast-flowing rivers and potentially unstable riverbanks during the high-stream flow period.

TEMPORARY PATIO AND SIDEWALK PERMITS
Temporary patios or sidewalk sales area permit applications are now closed. Current holders of temporary patio permits can continue to operate their temporary patios until June 1, 2022, due to a recent District of Council motion on October 5 to extend the program for all temporary patio operators (Prior to this, the program was set to end on October 31).

For businesses seeking to convert their temporary patios into regular/ongoing offerings beyond June 2022, businesses will need to submit an application through the District's regular outdoor patio process, which is being streamlined for ease of use. Please check back to our website on October 20 for the application form.

RECYCLING TIP OF THE WEEK
Did you know that RecycleBC regularly audits the recycling collected by GFL to track contamination? The audits look for any non-packaging material to be kept out of the recycling, and the District may receive fines if the contamination level is too high. If you aren’t certain if the material is recyclable or not, check squamish.ca/waste-wizard or the Squamish Curbside App.
