DISTRICT INVITES COMMUNITY TO LET’S TALK SQUAMISH

The District has launched Let’s Talk Squamish, a new engagement space that will serve as an online hub for the District’s public engagement efforts. Let’s Talk Squamish invites residents to participate in local planning and decision-making by asking questions, sharing ideas, and providing feedback on projects that will shape the future of Squamish. Residents are encouraged to participate and join the conversation at LetsTalkSquamish.ca.
THE BUDGET IMPACTS ALL OF US, EVERY DAY. LET'S TALK ABOUT IT

Council discussions on the proposed 2022-2026 Five Year Financial Plan have begun. We want to make sure you have all the information you need to join the conversation.

We want to hear from all Squamish residents as we plan for the future of the Garibaldi Estates. Let us know how you use the area and how the area can support a diversity of housing options, employment space, transportation, and community amenities in the future.

The engagement has launched online on Let’s Talk Squamish. Find information, surveys and ways to ask questions and provide feedback online and weigh in at your convenience.

The District of Squamish is also hosting online and in-person open houses to invite residents to learn and share feedback on the Garibaldi Estates Neighbourhood Planning Process. The open house will include a presentation about the planning process and an opportunity to ask questions of District staff about key neighbourhood planning issues.

When:
  • In-person open house: Monday, October 18 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. OR 8 to 9 p.m. at the Squamish Baptist Church, 2262 Read Crescent.

  • Capacity at in-person events will be limited to comply with the COVID-19 Public Health Order on gatherings. Pre-registration is therefore required. The content of each event will be the same to accommodate the most number of people.

  • An online open house will also be offered on Wednesday, October 20 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. or 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Visit our new Let's Talk Squamish engagement website to register for these events and to learn more about this project, have your say, ask questions and share your vision for the future.
Masks continue to be required in all public indoor settings for all people born in 2012 or earlier (9+). Please visit our website for more information on current COVID-19 regulations including the proof of vaccination requirements, current PHO orders, and upcoming drop-in vaccine clinic dates and times.

COMMUNITY NOTICES AND EVENTS
Oceanfront Squamish Update: Marine Users

With in-water works scheduled daily, it is critical to keep a wide berth when navigating waters near the southern end of the oceanfront peninsula to avoid running aground. Orange buoys have been placed delineating the area that should be avoided when coming in and out of the Mamquam Blind Channel.

For your safety, please respect all construction signage. We ask all marine traffic (including paddleboards, canoes, powerboats, sailboats etc.) to steer clear of this area. Matthews West appreciates the public’s cooperation at this time.
There's still time to register and commit to riding in Autumn GoByBike!

Start a workplace team and encourage colleagues to ride their bikes to work or get outside for a mental health break if you are working from home. All rides can be logged with gobybikebc.ca until October 10, whether it is a commute, for errands, or a recreational ride – all logged rides are entries to win prizes!
