Free Family Day

Join us this Saturday, June 27th from 10 am to 1 pm at the Schneider for FREE FAMILY DAY! This year, we're celebrating the Schneider Museum of Art's 40th anniversary, so this Family Day will be jam-packed with fun! Whether you’re exploring the galleries on a scavenger hunt, participating in hands-on art activities inspired by our current exhibition, Cercle et Carre and the International Spirit of Abstract Art, or enjoying our special selection of birthday treats, there is something to spark the imagination (and the sweet tooth) of every generation. This event is free of charge, so all you need to bring is yourself and your art-friendly clothes!

Due to the impending rain, all activities will be indoors at the museum and in the adjacent Marion Ady Building.

Celebrating our 40th year could not be done without acknowledging the founders of our museum, Bill and Florence Schneider. The Schneiders were deeply beloved by the Rogue Valley and the many communities they served across America, from New York to Arizona. They were the founders of a school in Arizona, as well as supporters of many scholarships, organizations, and endowments over their lifetimes, such as the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and the Rogue Valley Symphony. Their vision for this museum created a place that now supports opportunities for students, artists, and the Rogue Valley community. The Schneiders were friends with American painter Waldo Peirce, whose portrait of Bill Schneider (seen above) is on view in the Entry Gallery. Bill and Florence were also the founders of the Treehaven School in Arizona, where they served as teachers and role models for many children. Bill was known as a fatherly figure to the students, and he was known to play with them often, as shown in Peirce's painting. Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Schneider Museum also celebrates the legacy and impact of its founders, Bill and Florence Schneider. Learn more about them by visiting our museum, where information about them is on display all over. And, thank you so much for supporting the Schneider Museum of Art!
