FORWARD TOGETHER
To our fellow design community members, Happy December! As we approach the end of this year, we would like to thank you for your continued support. It’s been a challenging year, but the design community has proved resilient. We have remained united and eager for the new road ahead, and our community of emerging design professionals is no different. We are ready, now more than ever, to band TOGETHER and hit the ground running in 2021 to continue fostering growth and supporting one another as we all work toward our goals. Let’s show 2020 how it’s really done and make 2021 a year of TOGETHERNESS. We hope this holiday season brings you joy, and we look forward to seeing you in 2021 and all that we will accomplish...

TOGETHER!

SPOTLIGHT
ReWeave L.A., whose mission is to "reduce textile waste from the interior design industry," believes that sustainable luxury is possible. And it's on that belief that Julie Benniardi and Debbie Ouyang founded their enterprise right here in Los Angeles. So how do they do it?

Sourcing unneeded fabric samples from leading interior design showrooms, ReWeave L.A. upcycles and repurposes them into one-of-a-kind apparel and home goods. Ensuring no contribution is discarded, every swatch eventually finds a home within their patchwork designs, which are all designed and produced locally. Having already collected over 10,000 pounds of fabric samples, they're currently working on building a customer base for their products so they can continue collecting more! And as if helping reduce waste and lessen an industry's environmental impact wasn't enough, ReWeave L.A. also donates 10% of their sales to non-profit organizations that provide job training for Angelenos facing barriers to employment. Talk about a social enterprise!

This past October, ReWeave L.A. hosted an outdoor trunk show featuring their collections, where they showcased a men's jacket as a tribute to LA design guru, Rocky LaFleur. In true ReWeave L.A. fashion (pun intended), the proceeds from the sale of the jacket were donated to the Los Angeles LGBT Center, the beneficiary chosen by Mr. LaFleur. Check out some images from the event below.
