Employer Hiring Expectations at Record High As We Enter 2019

Hiring intentions among U.S. employers are at  a 12-year high  entering the first quarter of 2019, according to a recent Employment Outlook Survey. U.S. employers reported a 20% increase in recruiting confidence, and more than 12,500 employers in all four regions of the country forecasted double-digit-percentage hiring outlooks, specifically in the following industries:

  • Transportation & Utilities (28%)
  • Leisure & Hospitality (27%)
  • Professional & Business Services (25%)
  • Wholesale & Retail Trade (24%)

Also noteworthy from the study: Flexible work schedules, career development opportunities, paid parental leave and remote work options emerge in study after study as employees' most wanted perks.

Promotions from Within

ERICA ELMSLIE
Mackey & Guasco Staffing LLC (MGS) is pleased to announce the promotion of Erica Elmslie to the post of Recruiting Specialist. Erica joined MGS in 2017 as an Intern/Recruiting Assistant and then took on additional responsibilities as Recruiting Specialist.

NICOLE ZEZIMA
MGS is also happy to announce the promotion of Nicole Zezima to the post of Director of Operations. Nicole joined MGS in 2016 as a Recruiting Coordinator with over 20 years prior experience in Office Management coupled with an extensive background in client relations and office support.
Staying Involved and Remaining Relevant
Mackey & Guasco Staffing is actively committed to supporting the communities we serve. Every MGS associate is devoted to making a positive difference in the lives of our Clients, Candidates and the Communities in which we are privileged to operate. This may include representation at local Career Fairs, continual learning events in our field or other Outreach Opportunities. Most recently we:
  • Worked with Quinnipiac University students to better prepare them for their first career opportunity
  • Led a Panel discussion for nearly 100 HR leaders on the topic of navigating talent acquisition.
  • Supported Pink Pledge benefiting the Norma Pfriem Breast Center.
  • Monetarily contributed to The Alzheimer's Association.
Sometimes it’s those seemingly small things we do that are the greatest measure of our success.

Maureen was recently spotted on NBC Nightly News commenting on segment discussing what might be driving the market lower.
Maureen was recently a guest speaker on a panel at the January 15th SOCT SHRM Chapter Meeting. The topic of the discussion was: Surviving the Talent Shortage – How to find the employees you need in the today’s market. A lively and relevant topic!
