EXPANDED WATER CERTIFICATION OPPORTUNITIES
Certified Water Rating Index

We are thrilled to now offer Certified Water Rating Index (WRI) scores for all homes and multifamily buildings, regardless of whether NGBS Green certification is pursued! This expanded offering furthers our goal of growing the market for third-party green certifications.
Learn More
Join our upcoming webinar to discuss the benefits and process for obtaining a certified WRI score:
  • Demonstrate Water Efficiency with a Certified WRI
  • Thursday, October 6th, 2:00-3:00 PM EDT
  • The 2020 NGBS introduced the Water Rating Index (WRI) as a new methodology for homes to demonstrate compliance with water efficiency criteria. Builders who take advantage of this new opportunity can be on the cutting edge of efficiency and set their homes apart from the competition. Learn about the benefits of performance-based water ratings, the process for earning a certified WRI score, and costs of compliance.
  • Register here.

Verification
Find an NGBS Green WRI Verifier to provide verification services and guide you through the process. These individuals are accredited green building professionals who have undergone additional training related to water efficiency and have access to the calculator tools necessary to score and verify a home's WRI value.

Marketing
Builders pursuing certified WRI or WaterSense are eligible to use the relevant suite of marketing collateral, certification marks, and logos. Visit Builder Central.

Registration
Registration is free but mandatory. A WRI Verifier can register a building for WRI on the NGBS Green AXIS platform.

Costs
WRI certification fees are only assessed when a project pursues WRI independently from NGBS Green certification. WRI certification fees are flat-rate and designed to be cost-effective so that it is an easy choice to add a water rating to any residential project.
  • Single-family Home: $50
  • Multifamily Building: $100

WaterSense certification can be added to a certified WRI project at no additional cost. As always, we will consider volume pricing upon request.
