Jasmine Brown of
The Green Project
Born and raised in New Orleans, Jasmine Brown is now the Executive Director of The Green Project. Her prior experience includes working for the TRiO programs through the Department of Education and graduating from YLC’s Leadership Development Series. Jasmine serves as a board member for the Young Leadership Council (YLC) and Newcomb Alumnae Association at Tulane University.
The Green Project promotes a culture of creative reuse by diverting usable materials from landfills and cultivating respect for their value. This is accomplished through three main pathways: a donation-based salvage store (two million pounds per year diverted from landfills), community paint recycling program (keeping 40,000 gallons per year out of our ecosystem), and a free K-12 environmental education (700+ residents educated).

The History
The origins of the Beaux Arts Ball can be traced back to France and the École des Beaux-Arts – named not only for the ball but also for the style of architecture popular in the United States around the turn of the twentieth century. In 1892, French architecture student, Charles Cravio, developed the idea for a “bal” – a masquerade ball – over the course of a dinner.
The first bal des Quat'z'Arts (Ball of the Four Arts) was envisioned as a celebratory coming-together of students from the four different disciplines at the school: architecture, painting, sculpture, and engraving.
In 2019, the New Orleans Architecture Foundation brought this gala to life at The Music Box Village with the theme of "Premiere Lumiere." This decadent night brought over 100 members of the AEC and arts world together. Unfortunately, Covid halted the return of the ball in 2020.
2023 will be the inaugural year of AIA New Orleans hosting this event, and we hope to repeat the success of our predecessors for many years to come!
