February: View Your Child’s Calendar

Tip: Access the Canvas Calendar to see upcoming assignments, tests, and events. The Canvas Calendar is a valuable tool for both students and parents to stay organized and on top of upcoming assignments, tests, and school events.

By utilizing the Canvas Calendar, you and your child can:

  • Reduce stress: Stay organized and avoid last-minute rushes.
  • Improve time management: Plan study sessions and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Increase academic success: Ensure assignments are completed on time and prepare for tests adequately.

Trick: Enhance Your Planning with Calendars

  • Add Personal Reminders: The Canvas Calendar isn't just for school events! You can add your own personal reminders, such as doctor appointments, extracurricular activities, and family events. This keeps all your important dates in one convenient place.
  • Sync with Your Calendar: Seamlessly integrate school schedules with your personal life by syncing the Canvas Calendar with your existing calendar apps like Google Calendar or Outlook. This allows for better planning and coordination of family activities.

By utilizing these tricks, you can maximize the efficiency of the Canvas Calendar and create a more streamlined and organized family schedule.

Nurse's Notes.....

Hello Marine Families!

Just a few reminders for this month as we roll into February.  First, we will begin scheduling students into classes next year.  Please connect with your son/daughter to make sure they know what to schedule.  They will meet with counselors the week of February 17th in our Auditorium during Anchor Hour.  Second, please make sure your son/daughter is getting to school every day and on time.  If students receive a 4th tardy from their teacher they will have to serve a detention with that teacher after school.  Repeated tardies will be detentions after school until 4 pm.  Also, as grades start to come in, please double check Skyward and Canvas to monitor what their grades are and if they have any missing assignments.

The end of the year is going to come quickly so please be sure to keep monitoring those grades and attendance.  Our third quarter ends on March 31st.  Thank you for all that you do to make our school and district such a great place to be!

Mr. Draheim

Dear MHS Marine Families,

As we move further into the second semester, I want to express my gratitude for your continued partnership in supporting our students' growth and success. This month is a busy one, with key opportunities for learning and connection:

  • Sophomore Parent Meeting: On February 3rd at 5:00 pm in the high school auditorium, there will be a meeting for sophomore students and their parents to learn about dual enrollment course that student have available to them during their Junior and Senior years here at MHS. Dual enrollment courses includes a variety of programs through which high school students are enrolled simultaneously in both high school and college to earn both high school and college credit. Such programs make college more affordable for families and introduce students to higher level coursework with greater support while still in high school.
  • Student Engagement: February is an exciting month filled with activities and opportunities for our students! We’ll be wrapping up our winter sports seasons and kicking off sign-ups for spring sports. Students are also gearing up for competitions in clubs like FBLA, Forensics, and Powerlifting.

One of the highlights of the month is the always-popular MHS musical! This year, our talented students will perform “Cinderella” on the MHS stage from February 21st to 23rd. For tickets and showtimes, please visit anchorplayhouse.ludus.com.

We hope to see you at these events as we celebrate our students’ hard work and talents!

  • Attendance Reminder: Regular attendance is key to student success, and I am happy to share that, as of the end of January, MHS has 63 students who have perfect attendance this school year! Let’s continue to aim to make every day count as we strive to maintain strong attendance rates this semester.

As you may have heard, the Marinette School District is proposing a $48 million referendum to address critical facility needs at the middle and high schools. This initiative is focused on funding essential building system upgrades, enhancing safety and security, and modernizing learning spaces to better support our students and staff. For detailed information about the referendum, which will be on the ballot on April 1st, please click here. Your engagement and understanding are vital as we work together to plan for the future of our schools.

Thank you for all you do to support your student and our school. If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Wishing you a productive and positive month!

Warm regards,

Steve Linssen
