INSIDE INTEGRATED

The Integrated Consulting team has been busy providing our clients with exceptional service for multiple design projects around our region. Additionally, the team has been able to participate in some exciting special events that highlight our commitment to the community!

On July 17th, Zane Geist attended the groundbreaking for a new mixed-use, affordable housing development by Wildheart. The Integrated team created the subdivision and land development plans for The Gateway, which will be located in the Allison Hill area of Harrisburg. We are excited to see this project move forward.

Dan Jorich attended a ribbon cutting ceremony on August 14th for the new Playland located at the Ronald McDonald House of Central PA in Hershey. Our staff was proud to provide site design and building permitting services for this new space that will provide a respite for children who are receiving medical care for often complex and difficult illnesses.

The entire Integrated team was fortunate to take part in the very first “Understanding Human Trafficking Seminar,” presented by our neighbors Greenlight Operation at their new Resource Center. Integrated staff attended in person and virtually to learn more about a serious issue that affects individuals from diverse backgrounds, regions, and demographic groups. Greenlight Operation will be hosting future training and seminars, as well as providing care for survivors from this location!

At the beginning of August, we bid farewell to our summer intern, Joshua Bellis, as he returns to Penn State for his senior year in the landscape architecture program. Our team is thankful for his hard work and dedication, and we wish him the best of luck as he returns to his academic studies.

Finally, the team is looking forward to fall and our annual company picnic. The event will be held on September 27th and will feature games, good times, AND A SEAFOOD BOIL! Stay tuned for photos in our next newsletter!

INDUSTRY INFORMATION

STORMWATER MANAGEMENT DESIGN STANDARDS

Stormwater management design is one of the most critical factors that drives site design and layout for subdivision and land development plans. Location of stormwater management facilities, such as infiltration basins, rain gardens, and others, can significantly alter the layout of proposed lots, buildings, and associated site features depending on how much volume is needed. To accurately size stormwater facilities, the infiltration characteristics of the soils below stormwater management facilities must meet a certain threshold for infiltration to be viable. Subsurface investigation and geotechnical evaluation must be performed to determine the soils’ ability to infiltrate runoff.

Since its release in 2006, the PA DEP Stormwater Management Best Management Practices (BMP) Manual has outlined standards for infiltration testing, which includes types of testing, the number of tests required, and associated guidance for designers. The standards outlined in the original BMP manual have, and still do, govern current infiltration testing practices. That is all about to change, however, as PA DEP has been working on an updated BMP (or SCM – Stormwater Control Measures as they now refer to them) over the last several years.

IN THE COMMUNITY WITH IC

The Integrated Consulting team had some fantastic opportunities to participate in several golf outings to support notable charitable organizations.

In July, Jonathan Holmes and Zane Geist joined Ben Myers and Jeff Boushell at the Hanover Lions Club annual golf outing to raise money that supports blind and visually impaired individuals.

Also in July, Justin Kuhn and Terri Delo partnered with James Strong and Christopher Knarr at the Ronald McDonald House of Central PA golf tournament to support initiatives that help families traveling to receive medical care for their children.

In August Justin Kuhn and Terri Delo attended the 2026 Sheetz Building Partnerz Golf Tournament which benefits the Sheetz for the Kidz program. This program partners with regional and national organizations that provide support to children.

Also in August, Justin Kuhn, Dan Jorich, and Zane Geist teamed up with Christopher Knarr for the Tri-County Housing Development Corporations’ annual golf outing, which benefits their mission to develop and provide affordable home ownership opportunities in South Central PA.
