What School Could Be Office Hours Ted Dintersmith and Dr. Katina Soares

On Tuesday, December 8th at 11:30AM Hawaiʻi time Ted Dintersmith will hold "Office Hours" with Dr. Katina Soares, Principal at Molokai High School. In 2017, Katina fulfilled a life-long dream when she was appointed Principal at Molokai High School in the Hawaiʻi State Department of Education’s “Canoe Complex.” (This complex includes schools on Maui, Lanai and Molokai.) Katina is a strong advocate and supporter for education innovation, creativity and imagination on her campus. She is also a great fan of Ted Dintersmith’s film, Most Likely to Succeed and his book, What School Could Be, employing both effectively to mobilize and transform her community. She is using Ted’s Innovation Playlist to help infuse her faculty, staff and students with a micro-innovation theory of change.

A New Film From Josh Reppun Productions

For the past 2.5 years I have been working on a film about innovation, creativity and imagination in our public schools. The film is DONE, OMG!, and housed at WhatSchoolCouldBe.org. This is a new, free resource site for educators and education leaders from Ted Dintersmith and his epic team. Its title is The Innovation Playlist and was made in partnership with Waianae Searider Productions. When this pandemic is over, hopefully by next summer 2021, I will be scheduling a series of in-person screenings. Until then, you can find the film on the homepage of WhatSchoolCouldBe.org in a section titled "Supporting Change in the Field." Check it out!

#attitudeofgratitude! It's a pretty special thing when one finishes a film project. My new film, The Innovation Playlist, took 2.5 years to make and boy, did I make a lot of mistakes along the way. But wow, did I learn a lot about filmmaking! Much of that learning came because of my film editor, John Allen III, the new Director of Searider Productions (now that Candy Suiso has retired). This film is a public display of learning, much of it because of John. Mahalo, my friend!
