Meet Shamir Rivera-Quintal, a proud graduate of Lowell High School’s class of 2006 and the new Interim Executive Director of Project LEARN and the Lowell Schools Fund. 

Shamir has always called Lowell her home – growing up in four different neighborhoods here, attending not only Lowell High School, but also C.G. McDonough Arts Magnet School (while it was still a magnet school!), and now living and raising her children in Lowell, too. 

Earlier this month, Lowell High School graduate, Tiana Nhem (Class of 2023) sat down with Shamir in Project LEARN’s downtown Lowell Learning Lab for a conversation, alumni to alumni. They talked about Shamir’s experience at Lowell High, from being a member of the Latin Lyceum and participating in different clubs, about how she feels her experience as a student in this community, and what she’s looking forward to in this new role.

We’re excited to share that the 7th Annual Lowell High School Career Speaker Week is returning this spring during the week of March 30th — and we’re inviting Lowell High alumni to be part of it.

This signature career exploration experience brings professionals back into Lowell High classrooms to share their career journeys, real-world insights, and the lessons learned along the way. For students, hearing directly from alumni who once sat in their seats makes what comes after graduation feel tangible, attainable, and inspiring.

Speaker registration opens the first week of February. Keep an eye out for details and get ready to help shape and inspire Lowell’s next generation of graduates.

Since launching in September, the Lowell Schools Fund has raised an incredible $38,400, thanks to the generosity and belief of Lowell High alumni and community supporters.
