"I’ve been receiving our church’s weekly prayer letter for years. I love the connection it gives me to those who are going through a tough time. I also love the connection it gives me to our loving Father and Savior in interceding on behalf of the requestors. Although prayer is regarded as a “spiritual” activity, I experience it as pragmatic and a concrete way to “make things happen.” For me, “I’ll pray for you” isn’t a sentimental throwaway line but a commitment to engage with the sympathetic, benevolent, and gracious Almighty God who doesn’t nitpick my word choices and has repeatedly answered my prayers in ways beyond my expectations and imagination.
