Overcoming Challenges and Achieving Independence

We are proud to share the inspiring story of Mr. Jones, whose journey to stability and independence demonstrates the power of resilience and support.

Mr. Jones began with our team in April 2022, residing at B7 Bridge Housing. Through our collaboration, he transitioned to ESG Rapid Rehousing, where we secured a rental room for him. Despite facing major challenges, including a life-changing car accident that left him with significant mobility issues, Mr. Jones’ determination along with his Valley Oasis Case Manager Georgeann's support helped him persevere.

In May 2024, Mr. Jones moved into his new apartment at Arbor Grove, a milestone made possible with the help of his sister, who assisted with decorating. When his 24-month rental subsidy was nearing its end, Georgeann, with guidance from her supervisor, Shaneta, requested a FARS extension to prevent homelessness. LAHSA approved the extension, ensuring continued housing stability.

A month later, Mr. Jones received exciting news: he was a potential match for the Housing Choice Voucher with LACDA, a program that would secure his long-term housing. On August 30th, he officially received the Housing Choice application, giving him the opportunity to continue living independently.

Today, Mr. Jones thrives in a clean, organized space at Arbor Grove, supported by his sister, Georgeann, and Shaneta. His success story highlights how, with the right support and resources, individuals can overcome significant obstacles and build stable, fulfilling lives.
