SEPTEMBER 2019 ENEWS
Invaluable Conservation Experience
Our Conservation Youth Crews completed another successful summer. They worked on over 75 Nature Trust properties across the province. They removed invasive plants, restored habitat, posted signs and connected with the community. Through this program not only do young people get the chance to learn practical skills for future employment but we hope to inspire a lifelong interest in caring for habitat and wildlife.

Congratulations to Simon Ferguson for receiving the 2019 Jim Walker Conservation Crew Member Award for leadership and excellence on the job.

“The Nature Trust’s commitment to conservation is a benefit to all residents and visitors to BC, and will be for generations to come.”
- Simon Ferguson, Vancouver Island crew

“I helped host a bat education and box building workshop for the community on one of The Nature Trust’s new properties. With the help of a bat biologist and the local rod and gun club, we debunked bat myths and taught the public about the importance of bats.”
- Amelia Bonenfant, Kootenay crew

“I really enjoyed helping out with the research on rattlesnakes at White Lake. I’ve always loved snakes since I was little and this type of research is something that I would be interested in doing in the future.”
- Sophia Reimer, Okanagan crew
