Bat Mitzvah: Summer Tyler

Dara and Jason Tyler announce the Bat Mitzvah of their daughter, Summer Ryann Tyler, on January 29, 2022. Summer is a 7th grader at Blue Valley Middle School. She enjoys competitive dance, crafts, baking and the beach. Summer chose the Jewish Family Services food pantry for her mitzvah project. She feels passionate about no one going hungry. She was able to collect 281 pounds of donated goods plus monetary donations to purchase food.

You're Invited: Rabbi Kramer's Installation

The Temple, Congregation B'nai Jehudah cordially invites you to the Installation of Rabbi Stephanie Kramer, as our congregation's 15th Senior Rabbi. This momentous event includes an Erev Shabbat Service and Installation Ceremony, followed by a community dinner at 7:30 pm. Our congregation will be joined by guest clergy: Rabbi Rick Jacobs, Rabbi Sarah Bassin, Rabbi Dan Levin and Reverend Adam Hamilton.

Please RSVP by noon on January 28 for the Installation and the dinner. RSVPs are required so we may have enough seats and food available.
Yalla! Family Service

We also invite Yalla! students, parents, siblings and friends to a special family service to welcome Rabbi Kramer to our Religious School Community. **This is one of only two Yalla! family services this year!** Former B'nai Jehudah member and guest Rabbi Sarah Bassin will join us for this special service. No RSVPs needed for the Yalla! service.
Passover Art Contest
Practice hiddur mitzvah, beautify the commandments! Make and submit a work of art celebrating Passover: a Seder plate, a painting of Moses parting the Red Sea, an illustration of the Four Children in the Haggadah, or anything else you can imagine! The winning piece will be reproduced on a B'nai Jehudah greeting card. Inspiration can come from anywhere, and these pieces from the Klein Collection are here to get you started.

This contest is open to B'nai Jehudah members of all ages. Submit your art by February 11.

Are you interested in audio/visual stuff? Are YOU the person your parents or grandparents call when they can’t figure out their internet? Then join our new Tech Tefillah Team!

You'll help run cameras/audio for Shabbat services or special events. Training included! Email [email protected] if you are interested in joining the Tech Tefillah Team. Our first meeting will take place Thursday, Feb. 3, at 5:15 pm.

Judaism and the Afterlife
From the Bible to today

Rabbi Stephen Karol will trace the development of Jewish beliefs about the afterlife from Biblical times to modern day Judaism. We will find answers to the many questions Jews have about life after death and the questions Christians ask Jews about what we believe.
Winter Chavurah
February 19-22 | St. Louis
Start 2022 off with some fun! Hang out with high schoolers from around the Midwest over President's Day weekend. Our weekend includes teen-led programs, socials, lots of snacks, and connecting with new and old friends. Teens and a KC advisor will spend two nights in a hotel close to the hosting synagogue.

Space is limited! Register before Jan. 24 and pay $180. Registration through Feb. 14 is $200. Contact Emily for scholarship needs. All participants must be vaccinated and take a COVID test before arrival.

NEW from Brotherhood and Sisterhood: Celebrate Purim while Wine Tasting (and ordering) your Passover Vino!

It's a spiel like none you’ve seen before! Michelle Cox and a cast of B'nai Jehudah members will treat us to a fabulous Purim spiel, complete with music from the ABBA Broadway musical hit, Mamma Mia! Experts will be on site to answer wine-related questions, as we taste various wine offerings and have the opportunity to place Passover wine orders from local purveyors. Stay tuned for registration information.
Learn with Mitzvah Garden!

Get out, get your hands dirty, and learn all about raised box gardening and Hugelkultur with Mitzvah Garden KC in cooperation with KC Community Gardens. RSVP to Chuck Luchen by March 6 to reserve your slot! This event is free of charge and is open to anyone in the KC community.
Recycle Grocery Bags
It may be the easiest mitzvah of the year! We are collecting re-usable grocery bags for the JFS Food Pantry. Please place your donations in the box located in the entryway of the building. Thank you!
