The Walking Dead Arcade Prototype Spotted
Raw Thrills' The Walking Dead, a video game based on a graphic novel that became AMC's hugely popular TV show, is set to premiere at this year's IAAPA show. Shipping will be some time in 2017.
News leaked out after RePlay contributor Adam Pratt (Endgame) got an anonymous tip that an early version of the game was out on test. The blog post noted that the cabinet appeared similar to the Raw Thrills' popular Jurassic Park Arcade, but we're guessing that's where the similarities end. Raw Thrills representatives made certain that for production, the game will be in "an amazing new cabinet, customized for the experience."
Raw Thrills Sales Manager Mark Struhs confirmed,"We are testing out a game called The Walking Dead. One of them is already out there, but it's an early prototype and not what we're going to launch. I have to say I'm really excited and I can't wait to tell you more!"
Struhs also stressed that despite the similarities between the test cabinet and
JPA
, gameplay will be completely
different
and utterly unique to the Walking Dead franchise
.
With this and reports that Raw Thrills will be showing off a new iteration of the
classic Cruis'n
video racer series, it looks like their booth at IAAPA will bring plenty of excitement this year.
You can check out the post on Pratt's
blog
or watch the video embedded here, but remember, this is an early look at the piece.

"Games We'd Like to See" But Probably Won't
Liberty Games has created a hilarious slideshow of spoof video games they'd like to find in an arcade one day. Their spoofs include gems such as the arcade fighter Life of Brian Immortal Kombat, the musically challenging Ron Burgundy's Jazz Flute Hero and the rhythm-based catwalk game Zoolander Walk-Off Walk-Off Arcade.
Now again, these aren't real games, but that doesn't mean they can't be good for a laugh!
Thanks to Will Jobbins at Liberty Games for sharing this with us. For more information, visit their website here.

LaserTAG360 Wraps Up Last Event of the Year
Creative Works hosted their last LaserTAG360 event of 2016 earlier this month (Aug. 2-3) and early reports pin it as another winner. The event, which is hosted three times a year, looks to teach entertainment professionals how to successfully add and/or manage a new or existing laser tag facility.
"The August LaserTAG360 event tends to be the most powerful for our team, our sponsors, and our attendees," said Danny Gruening, Chief Marketing Officer at Creative Works. "The crowd is a bit smaller than the other shows, so we get even more one-on-one time with the attendees, and they make huge strides toward their goals."
During the two-day event, Creative Works and their partners presented on topics ranging from site design and laser tag fundamentals to staff training and online marketing. The attendees represented more than a dozen different developments, each in various stages of the process.
One attendee, Simon Shearer of Drakeshire Lanes, said, "LaserTAG360 enabled us to accelerate [the] process towards our ultimate goal of creating an experience that wows!" Another attendee, Andy Johnston of Westgate Lanes, added, "A must-attend event if you're planning on adding laser tag."
The next LaserTAG360 is scheduled in February, giving Creative Works a few months to "rest." They'll be using that time to improve the education content and make the event even more valuable for future attendees. For more information, visit
