Philadelphia’s Immigrants Research Findings

Philadelphia has attributed their main source of population growth to immigrants in the last thirty years, reaching highs not seen for a century.


This demographic shift has prompted the city to reexamine employment, housing, and other citywide policy formation.


The Pew Charitable Trust looks at findings on studying Philadelphia’s immigrant growth, and how it is driving change throughout the city.

Did You Hear about Governor Shapiro’s Housing Action Plan?

This week the Housing Alliance of Pennsylvania executives met with state senators and representatives to witness the signing of an Executive Order by Governor Shapiro.


The order directs the state Department of Community and Economic Development and the Department of Human Services to address the housing shortage and homelessness crisis.


Additionally, The Housing Alliance has made some updates including an increase in funding and more discussions with statewide landlords.

Chester County Unveils New Human Needs Network Initiative

Chester County is piloting a new human needs network initiative in wake of a statewide mental health pandemic, amongst issues regarding food and housing security.


In many counties across Pennsylvania, calls to 211 or 988 that allow mental health assistance are too far away to connect with rural communities.


Chester County is using input from more than 50 local organizations to invest in positioning qualified counselors and specialists to more remote areas, as well as targeting at risk populations around the county.

In Louisville, Planting Urban is a Public Health Priority

A study centered in Louisville, Kentucky, has made a first in urban forestry by connecting planting new trees with health data from residents.


Ten years ago, Louisville had the fastest growing urban heat island in the nation, having now transformed into a hub for green solutions to urban heat and pollution.


Bloomberg Research discusses several assessments lead in Louisville, with recent findings linking public health to urban forestry.
