Pike County Officials Point to Progress in Pennsylvania’s fastest-growing county 

According to Census data, with a nearly five percent increase in population since 2020, Pike County is the fastest-growing county in the state.


However, the county has an unemployment rate above the state average, with opportunities being discussed to boost the local workforce and attract residents moving from border states.

Shapiro Administration Hosts Annual Symposium Addressing Emerging Drug Trends in the State 

This month the governor’s office has convened with the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP) to host its annual Emerging Drugs Symposium, where the latest data on drug supply, use, and prevention strategies are addressed by SUD treatment providers, healthcare workers, criminal justice representatives, and other key community members.


Launched in 2019, the annual symposium also examines gaps and disparities in care services for at-risk populations, as well as the ways that drugs trend evolve over time.


This year, discussion topics focused on new drug treatment trends, opportunities to expand community-based care, and the impact of vaping on youth’s mental and psychical health.

Philadelphia Makes Strides Against Gun Violence with Youth 

Since 2020, Philadelphia’s Group Violence Initiative (GVI) has been providing resources to youth across the city to prevent group-related gun violence.


Services include counseling and therapy, workforce education, and community resources for substance abuse prevention.


Over 82 community-based groups have partnered with the GVI since its launch, with a focus on engaging youth aged 12-17, and adult programs that involve groups aged 18-34.
