Philly Has More ‘Vibrant Mixed-Use’ Buildings than Peers, Report Says

According to a new study from commercial real estate consultant CBRE, Philadelphia’s prime business district is smaller than most of its studied peers but has the largest vibrant mixed-use building portfolio.


The study examined 19 cities across the nation and recorded notable market changes from 1990 to 2024.

PA Commission Proposes Strategies to Boost Rural Populations

The Rural Population Revitalization Commission was founded last year by state lawmakers to propose solutions to address rural population decline.


The Commission has released a report including feedback from representatives across the state exploring housing, healthcare, employment opportunities, and transportation expansion to boost current populations and attract new residents.

Housing Alliance February 2025 Legislative Updates 

Last month, a new education funding formula was introduced which will deliver an additional $526 million for public schools across the state.


Several new housing funds have been bolstered as well, including an additional $10 million for the PHARE program, $50 million for home repair funding programs, and $10 million for first-time home buyer assistance.

Gender Pay Gap Remained Stable Over Past 20 Years in US

Although the gender pay gap has slightly narrowed in the United States over the past two decades, it has remained steady.


Since 2003, the average pay for women has increased from 81% of male pay to 84%.


The Pew Research Center details trends in the gender pay gap and how the workforce has shifted in terms of gender over the years.

Small Towns in the US are Better for Upward Mobility, Study Finds

A study from PNAS Nexus has found that low-income children are less likely to achieve upward mobility if they grow up in a large city. 


The study explains that as more people enter a city, public goods are concentrated into the upper echelons of society, and income disparities increase.


Cities with populations under 100,000 residents but that act as economic and cultural centers are more likely to boost upward mobility across income groups.
