Clinic Will Remove Barriers to Health Care Access in Wilkes-Barre

The Health Department of Wilkes-Barre has unveiled a new mobile clinic in the city, which will employ local doctors and nurses to supply more accessible healthcare downtown.


The mobile clinic features three exam rooms, restrooms, and a waiting area.


Services will include vaccinations, free health screenings, and will travel to help reduce the barrier of patient transportation.

PA to Provide Nearly $8 Million to Address Teacher Shortages 

The Shapiro Administration has announced nearly $8 million in grants to expand teacher apprentice programs across the state to combat increasing teacher shortages.


Low pay, challenging working conditions, and high attrition rates remain as barriers to new and established teachers.


The Supporting Certified Teacher Registered Apprentice Program (CTRA) will provide financial support, hands-on job training, and emergency-certified teachers in critical subjects such as math, science, and special education.

PA Highlights Need for Public Transportation Investment in All 67 Counties 

The Shapiro Administration and PennDOT representatives met in Harrisburg to advocate for increased investment in public transportation in all 67 counties.


As part of the 2025-2026 budget, nearly $292 million in funding is sought for mass transit expansion, including restoration.


The funding, which will support 52 transit systems across the state, aims to boost local economies and build physical connections between urban and rural areas.
