New Regional Teams Designed to Protect Older Adults from Abuse Unveiled in PA

The Pennsylvania Department of Aging is highlighting regional teams that will help keep older adults protected from abuse.


Backed under the U.S. Department of Justice, these regional coalitions are called Multidisciplinary Teams (MDTs) and are designed to address complex issues surrounding older adult protection services.


Several organizations are collaborating to create comprehensive care services and networks across the state.

New Tracking Network Charts Philadelphia Air Pollution

The new Stinger Square Park sensor is being tested to accurately track air pollution in Philadelphia.


The network, made up of 76 monitors, will offer an air quality index on a new website called Breathe Philly.


The air quality indexes, measured from good to poor, will be color coded and provide hourly updates.

Shapiro Administration Announces $1 Billion Housing Plan

Pennsylvania will enact its first ever Housing Action Plan as part of a $1 billion proposal included in Governor Shapiro’s budget pitch.


Items in the Action Plan include rental protections, affordable housing strategies, and zoning reforms.


According to state data, approximately one million households across Pennsylvania spend more than 30 percent of their income on housing, and more than 50 percent of the state's housing stock is more than 50 years old, posing increased maintenance costs.
