Philadelphia to Expand Tenant Protections 

The Philadelphia City Council is in the process of passing legislation to protect renters against retaliatory evictions and dangerous living conditions.


Two bills were advanced under the Safe Healthy Homes Act, a legislative package introduced last April.


Approximately half of Philadelphia residents are renters, allowing the “good cause” protections to cover all of them, should the bills pass the full Council.

Philadelphia Working to Create 1,000 More Long-Term Homeless Shelter Beds

Philadelphia is aiming to create 1,000 more long-term homeless shelter beds in its initiative to get a “functional zero in homelessness.”


According to the city’s last Point-in-Time (PIT) count, 1,178 people are living in the streets, and another 4,438 are living in some kind of shelter.

Strengthening US Competitiveness Through a Renewed USMCA

The United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) modernized North American trade and supported Unites States manufacturing.


The agreement also established intellectual property protection, digital trade rules, and expanded market access and producer protections.

The Urban Institute has created a new tracker for nonprofits to record what types of communities nonprofits serve, who leads and works in nonprofits, and how much funding comes from which source.


Using representative data from the National Survey of Nonprofit Trends and Impacts, the tracker details United States nonprofits’ experiences at the national and regional levels, in select states, across nonprofit subsectors and sizes, and in urban and rural areas.
