Philadelphia’s Office of Black Male Engagement hosted its first State of Opportunity for African American Males and Allies Summit at Girard College, bringing together Black men and boys for workshops on health, education, artificial intelligence, homeownership, reentry, and mentorship opportunities.
The event was created in response to concerns about Black men being disconnected from resources and opportunities, with organizers aiming to strengthen networks, mentorship, and pathways to economic and social advancement.
Attendees said the summit provided valuable connections and support, while organizers emphasized their broader mission of reducing disparities and helping Black men and boys build lasting relationships that can lead to future opportunities in education and employment.
