IoD Update - February 2019
|
|
When we published the results of our
Director Sentiment Monitor
back in December, 32% of business leaders believed that Brexit was the single biggest risk factor facing their organisation. If anything, this figure is likely to have increased, given the continuing uncertainty around the impact of the UK's impending departure from the EU, now less than eight weeks away.
Such uncertainty aside, it’s been an exciting start to the year for the IoD, with a packed house attending our January Breakfast Briefing for members on the Property Market Outlook and our Dublin-based events in February fully booked in record time. So, have a look at our three exciting
March workshops
, which are filling up rapidly, and don't forget our
Spring Lunch
on March 29th, a great opportunity not only to hear the insightful Mark Little but to network and catch-up with IoD members.
We look forward to seeing you at one of our events soon!

In co-operation with Business & Finance, our highlighted videos this month see

Paul Sprenger CA (SA)
is Regional Director UK & Ireland with WTax, a division of the VAT IT Group, the largest tax recovery firm in the world.
What qualities do you need to succeed in business?
Hard work, focused goal setting and perseverance. I think young people today expect too much, too soon. I believe you need to earn your spurs and learn a few tough lessons before you can be truly successful. Success in business is often about the journey, not necessarily the end destination.
Who or what are your main influences?
Arnold Schwarzenegger has probably been the main influence in my life. His speeches and autobiography shaped the way I approach life. It is phenomenal to think what he has achieved in so many different occupations. He attributes it all to hard work and knowing exactly where you want to go. A truly inspirational person.
