HIGHLIGHTS

WORLD BANK SPRING MEETINGS & CORPORATE COUNCIL ON AFRICA (CCA) FINANCE FORUM


On April 20, 2023 IIN hosted a small group of African investors alongside the World Bank Spring Meetings where they discussed private sector engagement on the continent and met with key US stakeholders to make the case for two-way US-Africa investment opportunities.


IIN also continued its partnership with the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA), hosting the April 12th Africa Finance Forum. This closed-door event convened asset owners, DFIs, U.S and African Fund managers to kick off the discussion on institutional investment into African DFIs.

WEBINARS SERIES

On April 13th, 2023, IIN hosted its first Asset Manager Webinar series convening a wide range of asset managers that shared best practices and approaches to working with U.S. institutional investors.


This webinar was the place for a great discussion during the first of a two-part series, which will be offered again in September 2023.

IIN's Asset Owners Webinar convened on April 25th, 2023, a small group of institutional investors and demand-side stakeholders, mainly MDBs and DFIs, to discuss challenges that restrict investments into Africa.


IIN is offering this webinar twice this year, with the second edition taking place in September.

NCPERS' Annual Conference & Exhibition (ACE)

The IIN team participated in this year’s The IIN team participated in this year’s National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems (NCPERS) annual conference in New Orleans, Louisiana. The panel titled “Skate Where the Puck is Going: Investment Opportunities for Institutional Investors in Africa” was a fireside chat between Prosper Africa’s Senior Investment Advisor, Cameron Khosrowshahi, and Daniel D. Miller, Deputy Executive Director of the New York City Board of Education Retirement System (BERS), moderated by IIN’s Executive Director, Bintou Kabore-Zerbo. The panelists provided valuable insights to help US pension decision-makers navigate new markets, meet the right partners, earn safe, predictable returns, and deliver greater social and environmental impact.

International Telecoms Week (ITW)

IIN attended the International Telecoms Week (ITW) held in Washington D.C in May 2023 and was honored to be included in the unveiling of the brand new East2West fiber optics terrestrial cable project, a BAYOBAB and Africa50 Infrastructure Investment Platform initiative.

On March 22, 2023, Private equity fund manager, AFIG Funds, signed with Bridge Bank Group Cote d'Ivoire a financing agreement for a leveraged buyout (LBO) transaction for the financing of the takeover of a leading packaging company in Côte d'Ivoire, by a consortium of investors. The objective of AFIG Funds and its consortium partners is to acquire and develop an already leading manufacturing company in Côte d'Ivoire with the intention of deploying an ambitious strategic plan to drive local and regional growth.
