Through its webinar series, IIN continues to facilitate informed decision-making and instill confidence in potential investors. The latest one, "Opportunity and Risk Mitigation Tools," was a joint event between IIN, World Bank MiGA and U.S. EXIM Bank.


This particular webinar, which took place on February 13, 2025, convened selected stakeholders to discuss investment challenges and opportunities in Africa. Modern risk management is a highly collaborative exercise. Forward-thinking institutions such as the World Bank-MiGA can assist the US institutional investors community in evaluating emerging market allocations.

U.S.-CHAMBER OF COMMERCE'S AFRICA BUSINESS CENTER AND COTE D'IVOIRE ROUNDTABLE ON CRITICAL MINERALS & ENERGY FINANCING - WASHINGTON D.C. MARCH 18, 2025


On March 18th, the Institutional Investor Network (IIN) had the privilege of attending the U.S.-Côte d'Ivoire Roundtable on Critical Minerals & Energy Financing.


The event centered on driving economic diversification by exploring key investment opportunities in energy, mining, and critical minerals. Additionally, it emphasized the importance of strong partnerships between U.S. and Ivorian firms in fostering sustainable, equitable growth across sectors.


With thought-provoking discussions, this event laid the foundation for impactful partnerships that will drive progress and shape a prosperous future.

WORLD BANK GROUP SPRING MEETINGS 2025 AND SIDE EVENTS - NEW YORK

From April 21-26 April 2025, the Institutional Investor Network (IIN) participated in the World Bank Spring Meetings 2025—an annual convening hosted by The World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, bringing together global leaders to address pressing development and financial challenges.


The Spring Meetings 2025 concluded, the dialogue inspiring a continued path of partnership among institutional investors to drive positive impact and transformative solutions.

Event #1: Africa Fintech Summit


The Institutional Investor Network (IIN) was proud to serve as a Strategic Partner during the 13th edition of the Africa Fintech Summit, which took place on April 2025 in Washington, D.C., and engaged in pivotal discussions focused on advancing U.S.-Africa institutional partnerships and driving innovation in the fintech space.


As part of the Partnership, IIN powered and co-hosted two flagship thought leadership engagements during:

The IIN team co-hosted a panel discussion where impactful stories and strategies were shared to strengthen the partnership between U.S. institutional capital and African markets.


The event was moderated by Marlon Brown, President & CEO, Clarendon Global Partners and included the following key panelists:

Promoting Capital Flow & Addressing Funding Gaps: The Role of U.S. Endowments, Foundations, and Family Offices [Roundtable]



In this critical roundtable conversation co-hosted by IIN, leaders explored how strategic investment can close critical funding gaps and fuel sustainable innovation across Africa’s fintech landscape.


Bintou Kabore-Zerbo, Executive Director at IIN, remarks, “We are excited to partner with the Africa Fintech Summit this year, highlighting a few of our endowments and family offices who are actively investing on the continent. Our mission is rooted in education and exposing our members to opportunities for investment in Africa. 



Event #2: UNDP "timbuktoo Initiative"


On April 25th, the "timbuktoo Initiative", in collaboration with the Foundation for International Community Assistance (FINCA),IIN, and Africa Diaspora Invests, was pleased to extend to co-host an exclusive timbuktoo Initiative breakfast meeting on multistakeholder and blended finance approaches to strengthen the African startup ecosystem


This roundtable served as a platform to discuss how blended finance can be effectively utilized to meet investor needs and drive impactful investments. We hope you will join us for this important discussion and contribute your valuable insights.

Event #3: Private Sector Roundtable Co-Hosted Corporate Council on Africa (CCA), Cybastion, and IIN


On the afternoon of April 25th, the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) and the Institutional Investor Network (IIN) proudly presented an exclusive executive roundtable bringing together senior leadership from premier U.S. financial institutions and their African counterparts.


This high-level forum focused on actionable pathways to accelerate investment across Africa's most promising sectors: oil and gas, information and communications technology (ICT), and critical infrastructure.


Participants engaged in strategic discussions on innovative financing mechanisms and sophisticated risk mitigation strategies designed to unlock capital at unprecedented scale.


This collaborative session yielded tangible investment recommendations and advanced specific high-potential opportunities identified during the dialogue.

Board Member

Amara S. Sackor

IIN Board Member Amara Sackor was recently appointed Ambassador-designate of the Republic of Liberia to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, highlighting his global leadership and influence.


With a wealth of experience in engineering, construction, and project supervision, Sackor co-founded TSC Global, a multidisciplinary consultancy based in Washington, D.C., and serves as President of an engineering and construction firm that operates across North America and Africa.


Sackor has played a key role in driving infrastructure development across Africa and the Middle East, focusing on mobilizing investments for sustainable growth and advancing innovative infrastructure solutions. In addition to his international work, he has led key infrastructure initiatives for private sector clients and U.S. government agencies, applying deep technical knowledge and strategic insight to high-impact projects.


Sackor’s leadership and expertise continue to embody IIN’s commitment to bridge global capital with sustainable development on the African continent.
