In July 2023, the IIN team, in partnership with Prosper Africa, Implemented an investor delegation trip to Gaborone, Botswana, on the sidelines of the Corporate Council on Africa's (CCA) US-Africa Business Summit hosted by the Republic of Botswana. The CCA holds its premier conference annually, and in 2023, a group of institutional investors joined the various stakeholders to explore investment opportunities in Africa. They took part in pitch sessions, engaged as panelists, and got to experience the rich culture of Botswana and the city of Gaborone. | |

Global leaders gathered in New York for the 78th United General Assembly and annual Climate Week to highlight the essential role of collaboration in shaping the world's future. The Institutional Investor Network (IIN) was delighted to collaborate with various stakeholders to emphasize how public-private partnerships drive policy change and economic growth.
A special note of gratitude goes to Dr. Dennis Matanda, an Advisory Board Member of the Institutional Investor Network, for skillfully moderating a significant conversation in conjunction with the Global Green Growth Institute and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

On September 19th, 2023, IIN had the privilege of co-hosting a roundtable discussion with Casey Family Programs on engaging endowments and foundations to facilitate U.S. investments in Africa. This collaborative effort aimed to shed light on the challenges and opportunities associated with channeling investments into regions like Africa, offering a unique perspective on how forward-thinking organizations such as Casey Family Programs are pioneering a transformation in the investment landscape.
The roundtable emphasized the need for investors to recognize Africa as a promising destination for profitable ventures, provided they equip themselves with the right tools, information, and network of experts who understand the local dynamics and can navigate its unique landscape.

The Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) Champions Global Finance Access in Africa During Diaspora Events.
IIN participated in EXIM's Global gathering of private sector representatives to discuss export and import opportunities in sub-Saharan Africa. EXIM's President and Chair Reta Jo Lewis convened Public and Private sector representatives and sports leaders for an "Export Gamechanger" event on Financing in Africa and the Caribbean. Conversations around capital access and the convening power of the diaspora were highlighted in the session.

Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) Nigeria Business and Investment Luncheon with the Nigeria's Minister for Industry, Trade and Investment.
On September 20, 2023, CCA held an invite-only dinner where a few of the investors on the IIN platform were invited to join key members of the Nigerian government to hear about the investment landscape in Nigeria and attract US capital. In 2022, U.S. direct investment in Nigeria totaled $10.7 billion – making the United States the largest foreign investor in Nigeria. The U.S.-Nigeria trade and investment relationship is also mutually beneficial with the United States benefiting from access to Nigeria's large and growing market, while Nigeria benefits from access to U.S. technology, capital, and expertise.

On the evening of September 19th, IIN had the pleasure of attending the AAI 70th Anniversary Gala bringing together distinguished guests including Heads of State, diplomats, government officials, business and civil society leaders, scholars, journalists, and other leading figures for an unforgettable evening at Cipriani’s 42nd in New York City.
The event was hosted by Hall of Fame Inducted Marketing executive, author, entrepreneur, and longtime AAI supporter Bozoma Saint John.

IIN had the pleasure of attending on the sidelines of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), DOPE AFRICANS and The National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) came together for an exceptional evening dinner and reception at the NBPA headquarters. This gathering served as a unique platform to further ongoing efforts in helping players reach broader global audiences and champion new and existing economic development opportunities in Africa. Moreover, it provided a chance to celebrate the substantial contributions of current and former players involved in social impact work supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals across Africa. | | |

Congratulations to IIN Board Member Amara Sackor for closing a $338.7 million infrastructure project with the World Bank. This project will increase access to sustainable electricity in 15 ECOWAS member- countries and four countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.
