Integration For All

The Mental Health Association continues to Chair the Olmstead Committee, which is a sub-committee of the Governor’s Council on Behavioral Health. Our aim is to persuade Rhode Island’s decision-makers that Rhode Island needs an Olmstead Plan. A Plan would help the state assess unmet needs, implement funding strategies, and coordinate state services and housing options for people who live with serious mental illness, intellectual/developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, and youth and older adults at risk of institutionalization. MHARI recently drafted a policy proposal to establish an Olmstead Plan in Rhode Island, and we are working with a diverse group of community, state and consumer stakeholders to provide input on the proposal before it is sent to the Governor’s Office.
