The Mosaic | Fall 2023 Edition

Message from the President and CEO

Integrative Health Is Whole Health

We often talk about integrative health at Samaritan Daytop Village. Each of our programs has something special to offer our clients. It only makes sense then that these programs work together to complement and enhance each other. As a result, our clients reap the benefits from this comprehensive approach.

At Samaritan Daytop Village, we strive to find new ways to integrate care:

  • In the Bronx, Samaritan Daytop Health was launched to enhance our behavioral health programs with personalized primary care.

  • Sober activities at our Veterans Programs expanded through additional funding – because treatment should include some “fun and games.”

We also share news about the CASAC Training Institute, the Samaritan Daytop Foundation Gala, and our recent trip to South Korea to help the government address their country's addiction crisis.

I hope you enjoy this issue of the Mosaic. As always, I encourage you to contact us with any questions about our programs, services, and activities. All of us at Samaritan Daytop Village are grateful for your continued support.

Best to you and yours,

Mitchell Netburn

President & CEO

Harm Reduction Saves Lives

Nationally, harm reduction has become a critical tool to prevent fatal overdoses and save lives during the opioid epidemic. Samaritan Daytop Village has been an early adopter of harm reduction strategies. The agency began training employees in Narcan administration more than a decade ago, and has been teaching harm reduction strategies to clients in treatment for substance use disorder.

Integrated Opioid Treatment Services was introduced to the Suffolk Outpatient Treatment Program this year. Clients on Long Island can access both opioid treatment and outpatient services at one location. The same integration of services will be brought to Staten Island's program in 2024.
