PEACE & JUSTICE
VOLUNTEER HOUSING COACH
TRAINING OFFERED JANUARY 26

Are you interested in assisting a New Mainer to make a home in our Greater Portland community? The Faith in Action Council invites you to join us at a training being offered by Supporting Immigrant Tenants  here at church on Saturday, January 26 from 10-noon. You can explore becoming a Volunteer Housing Coach, a role in which you might, for example, help an immigrant moving into their first apartment learn to use unfamiliar kitchen appliances or utilities or to understand obligations under a lease. There is no financial obligation and the time commitment can be minimal once the tenant has settled in (though you might also forge a lasting friendship). The personal satisfaction you will experience is immeasurable!
To sign up please contact Jane Makela ( janemakela@earthlink.net ) or
Sue Ellen Bordwell ( sebordwell@gmail.com ).
