Dear WPS Community,
Thank you to the Laker families who have already expressed interest in our new bus transportation program. As we move forward with planning for an August 2026 launch, we are asking all interested families to complete the WPS Bus Transportation Commitment Form by June 30. Responses will help determine final routes, stop locations, and service availability.
We believe this program will help reduce traffic congestion during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal while providing families with added convenience and flexibility throughout the school week. It also offers students the opportunity to build independence and connect with peers during their daily commute.
The bus service will be provided through Prestige School Transportation, a trusted third-party transportation provider known for delivering safe, reliable transportation and exceptional customer service to families throughout Central Florida. It will initially be available to students in Kindergarten through 12th Grade.
The information below outlines the proposed transportation options, bus stop locations, and next steps for families interested in participating.
Proposed Transportation Options
- Round-trip service (morning and afternoon)
- $50 per week, per child.
- One-way service (morning or afternoon)
- $35 per week, per child.
- Round-trip service with later afternoon departure
- $60 per week, per child.
- Estimated departure times: 4:30 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and 4:00 PM on Wednesdays.
Proposed Bus Stop Locations:
- Keene’s Pointe Neighborhood (exclusively for Keene’s Pointe Residents)
- Four designated stops within the community
- The Grove Shopping Center (open to families throughout the local area)
- Corner of South Apopka Vineland Road and Conroy Windermere Road
Final stop locations and route assignments may be adjusted based on participation levels and geographic demand.
We are also exploring the opportunity to operate separate buses for:
- Kindergarten through 5th Grade students
- 6th through 12th Grade students
Final routes, schedules, and grade-level groupings will depend on overall participation.
The initial commitment period will run from August through December 2026, with the opportunity to continue service through the remainder of the school year if participation levels support the program.
