Dear NAMI NJ members interested in sharing your story,

NAMI New Jersey is currently seeking individuals and family members who may be interested in participating in our Sharing Your Story with Law Enforcement (SYSLE) program. SYSLE prepares individuals with lived experience to share their stories during law enforcement trainings, including Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) programs. These presentations help first responders better understand mental health experiences and foster more compassionate and effective crisis responses within our communities.

Through this program, participants will complete online training modules followed by a virtual coaching session designed to help presenters feel confident, supported, and prepared to share their story in a meaningful and impactful way. Sharing your story can play a powerful role in reducing stigma and helping law enforcement better understand the experiences of individuals and families affected by mental health conditions.

If you are interested in learning more or applying to participate, please scan the QR code on the flyer below or follow the instructions provided. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to programs@naminj.org. Thank you for helping us build more understanding and compassionate communities.
