The Metrowest Interfaith Community includes faith leaders and advocates in the Jewish, Christian, and Baha'i communities of Holliston, as well as the Islamic Center of Boston, the Nejaf Islamic Center, The Islamic Society of Greater Milford, The Sikh Gurdwara of Millis, the Ramakrishna Vedanta Society of Boston (Hindu), and Peace Islands Institute. Together, we provide opportunities for multifaith and multi-spiritual neighbors to come together. In doing so, we honor the presence of God through our rich diversity and help create communities of solidarity and hope.

Race Amity Day is about healing our divides (be they racial, religious, political, etc), and working together through amity and cooperation, and building friendships that strengthen our communities. We have a fantastic line up this year of music and poetry from local poets, youth, and a few professionals. The meat of the program will be between 1:15 and 3p.

This is the 7th Potluck picnic, and the 3rd year of our Poetry Jam. With live music, education tables such as Environmental Sustainability, Race Amity, and lots of games for children. It is a potluck picnic where we ask that people bring a dish of their culture OR a dish they find delicious (made by themselves or bought, either would be lovely). We also encourage people to being a blanket or lawn chair, and an umbrella might be helpful as it may be a bit warm this year. There are large shade trees for some of the Common, but there is also lots of sun exposure.

It is right in the town center at the Common, you can’t miss it. You can make a day of it by visiting Hutchins Farm in Concord on Monument Street and get organic produce grown by them; visit Clark Farm Market in Carlisle, and go for ice cream at Kimball’s stand at Bates Farm in Carlisle. For parking I recommend parking at the Town Hall, it is less than a 5 min walk to the common, or the Carlisle Public School lot, which is almost across the street. You could map to the First Religious Society which is across from the Common; the Carlisle Public School or the Carlisle Town Hall, all of which are less than a 5 minute walk.

There will be a bouncy house and bubbles for children, along with a peace game. And for adults we will play “Blind Contour” where you blindly draw the person across from you in an attempt to see a “stranger”, and more!
