SEEDS January 8, 2020
Inter-faith Worship and Service
January 19
10:00 am at Hevreh
270 State Road in GB
Our neighbors at Hevreh of the Southern Berkshires , our closest area synagogue, have invited us to join them and other area faith communities at 10 a.m. on January 19th for a brief interfaith worship, a time of service and a meal. Our Vestry Council has approved this in place of that day's 10 a.m. worship (we will have an 8 a.m. Eucharist at Christ Trinity as well). We have been asked with the other faith communities to provide a service option and for that we will be doing an encore of our Backpack Packing Project for women leaving incarceration.

With increasing anti-Semitic rhetoric and violence, it is more important than ever for us to stand with our neighbors and shine light into the darkness. I hope you will help us have a strong presence at this event!

Potluck Lunch and Annual Meeting on January 26
We are still putting the final touches on the annual report, but you may read a draft of it Here . A hard copy will be available at the Annual Meeting, which is after the 10:00 service on January 26th. Please bring a Potluck dish to share.
Rachel and Leah
The next Women’s Bible Study will be on Friday January 17, at 1 pm at the home of Iona. We will look at the stories of the Matriarchs of the 12 tribes of Israel, Leah and Rachel. Their stories overlap in Genesis chapters 29-31. Although this seems like a lot of material to cover, Leah speaks 137 words and Rachel 112. Try to read the chapters before coming, so we'll focus on what each woman says.
Iona lives on Main Street in Sheffield, second house south of the church. There is limited parking, but is easily walkable from the church parking lot. Is anyone interested in bringing refreshments? Please let me know, and also let me know if you are coming so Iona can prepare. Thank you and Happy New Year! Imelda

Beer & Hymns is February 21
Talent Show & Jubilee 2020
Musical Showcase on February 23
At the Synod Assembly in June we learned of Jubilee 2020, a fund to help pastors pay for their debt from seminary.
Pastor Heidi Johnston from Faith Lutheran in Quincy MA told her story of faith and need. She has $94,588 in student loans. This has had great negative impact on her family and her health. Her husband works in jobs for which he is not happy so that he is able to be with her in her passion for the ministry. They have two small children. They cannot buy a house because of this debt. She, like many others, gave up a good income to go to school to become a pastor.
We are asking the congregation to make a commitment to support the Jubilee 2020 fund of the New England Synod ELCA.

Call for musicians and raffle items for Jubilee 2020
Feb 23 is the Musical Showcase and Raffle at Christ Trinity Church at 3:00.
Will you share your musical talent? Let John-Arthur Miller know.
Do you have item(s) you will donate to the raffle? We would like the value to be more than $25. Dave Spidal is coordinating this activity.
