House Select Committee Meeting This Afternoon
The House Select Committee on Hurricane Resiliency and Recovery will continue its work on preparing the state for future hurricanes. This week they will receive presentations on local impacts from Hurricane Ian.
House and Senate Committees Receive Presentations on Governor’s Recommended Budget
The following House and Senate appropriations committees will hear from various state agencies this week regarding the Governor’s recommended budget for fiscal year 2024-2025.

Key Bills on Committee Agendas This Week
- The Senate Regulated Industries Committee will hear SB 280 related to vacation rentals. The bill would preempt regulation of vacation rentals, defined as “advertising platforms” in the bill, to the state and would allow local governments to create a registration program among other provisions. A similar bill died on the House floor last session.
- The Senate Judiciary Committee will hear SB 278, which would prohibit community associations from charging a fee for the production and delivery of estoppel certificates.
- The House Regulatory Reform and Economic Development Subcommittee will hear HB 433, which would preempt local regulation of heat exposure requirements in the workplace to the state.
