LeRoy Lawson
Interim Minister

Dear Church Family,

We find ourselves in the midst of transition. As you know, Tim's last Sunday as our Senior Minister will be November 1, and the search for our next Senior Minister is still in progress. Therefore, the Elders have been looking for an interim minster to take our church from the time of Tim's departure to the new minister's arrival.

It is with much excitement that I share the news that Dr. LeRoy Lawson has graciously agreed to serve as our interim pastor beginning in November. The goodness of God humbles us as Elders, that He has made a leader of Dr. Lawson's talent and reputation available to our church during this season of change.

Many of you may already be familiar with Dr. Lawson, as he and his wife, Joy, have been members of First Christian Church since 2011 (and earlier from 1965 to 1973). Dr. Lawson is currently the Distinguished Professor of Christian Ministries at Emmanuel Christian Seminary and an international consultant with Christian Missionary Fellowship International (CMF). He also served as president of the Hope International University in Fullerton, California, for 13 years and senior minister of the Central Christian Church in Mesa, Arizona, for 20 years. (Incredibly, he held both positions at the same time for nine years!).As you can see from the enclosed biographical information, these are only a few highlights of a life of Christian service that spans from the academic setting to the mission field and local church body.

Dr. Lawson's first Sunday in the pulpit will be November 15. I hope you will join me in extending him a warm welcome.

In hope and thanksgiving,
Michael Hance
Chair, Council of Elders

P.S. I mentioned above that Tim's last Sunday will be November 1. Please save the date. More information about a celebration will follow.
