As we shared earlier this week, the Board voted to accept Dr. DeSa’s resignation at the Board of Education meeting, Tuesday, June 3.
We are pleased to share that we anticipate voting to approve a contract with Dr. Eric Lutinski as Interim Superintendent at an upcoming board meeting. Dr. Lutinski will join the district in early July. He brings decades of experience in educational leadership, having served as Superintendent of the Rye Neck Union Free School District for the past four years. He recently announced his retirement from that role and is excited to bring his expertise and collaborative spirit to Pleasantville.
Dr. Lutinski is the ideal choice for Pleasantville during this transition. His appointment comes at a time when our district is poised to reflect, grow, and reaffirm the values that make Pleasantville such a special place to learn and work. A strong communicator and innovative problem-solver, Dr. Lutinski brings a proven ability to foster inclusive school communities while maintaining a clear focus on academic excellence. Before serving as Superintendent in Rye Neck, he was the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction for four years, where he led instructional initiatives to strengthen academic rigor across the district, including the expansion of Regents participation in grade 8, the introduction of the RULER (Social Emotional Learning) approach for grades 3-8, and creation of a mentoring program for new teachers.
His steady presence will give us the time and space to assess where we are, listen deeply, and thoughtfully plan our next steps—ensuring our next chapter is driven by clarity, collaboration, and vision.
We’re looking forward to introducing Dr. Lutinski to the faculty, staff, students, and community in the coming weeks and will be sure to share dates as they are confirmed.
Sincerely,
The Pleasantville Board of Education
