- INTERIOR COLOUR TREND -

I hope you had a wonderful festive holiday and wish you a Happy New Year.

I had a very relaxing Christmas and then flew off to sunny Cyprus, with my family, for the New Year. I certainly enjoyed the warmer weather, a chance to sit and read a novel, as well as the opportunity to exercise every day and party for my birthday. Pop over to my instagram if you'd like to see highlights of my trip (warning: lots of photos of me + family + sampling the local wine). Cheers.

Now that I'm back home, I've loads of exciting design ideas and inspiration to share with you this year.

In 2019 I'll be focusing on the health and wellness side of interior design, as well as sharing with you the latest trends and fashions to make your home look absolutely #gorgeous.

Today, I'll reflect on the Pantone colour trend LIVING CORAL for 2019. It's a beautiful colour that embraces you with warmth and nourishment, but it can be difficult to incorporate successfully in the home, so I'll show you how to use it wisely to create your stylish and healthy home.

With many of you already asking about my Interior Design Courses for 2019, I've included the dates below so that you can sign up now before spaces run out. My beginners' courses are ideal if you're planning a makeover of your home this year or want a night out to learn something creative and useful.

This year, I'll also take you on a journey with the launch of my first interior design book in Spring. It showcases the emotional side of interiors and focuses on how style and wellness compliment each other to create a home that not only looks great but also feels amazing.

Cheers to an exciting year creating your dream home.

PANTONE 2019 COLOUR TREND
- LIVING CORAL -

Colour experts Pantone have chosen LIVING CORAL as the trend for 2019.

It's a colour that embraces us with warmth and nourishment, providing comfort, optimism and joy. It sits in between the softness of peach and vibrancy of orange.

If you compare this with 2012 when Pantone brought out a similar but stronger 'Tangerine Tango' as the colour of the year, that popped with vibrancy and vivacity, that wasn't popular within interiors.  Although a popular colour for Moroccan interiors, Tangerine Tango flopped within interiors here in the UK because it was too strong and overpowering.

This year's colour of LIVING CORAL is softer and more suitable to the UK climate than the overbearing tangerine tango, so it should prove more popular within interiors, particularly as we move towards the warmer seasons of Spring and Summer.

As it's a softer, more liveable colour than tangerine tango, I do think LIVING CORAL will be successful within interiors this year. It has a
great depth of colour without being scary or looking tacky. Linking to the sea is also another plus for it's success because natural, organic and holistic elements are popular this year for interiors.

LIVING CORAL works well with any of the neutral colour palettes (white, cream, grey or black) as it contrasts their stability whilst highlighting warmth and energy. You can go for a splash of the sea with a beautiful coral wallpaper, or add in a touch of colour with cushions and a teacup.

For ideas, check out my video of beautiful coral Zara Home accessories that I discovered in Cyprus (don't worry you can also find them here in the UK). They'd look #gorgeous whether in a traditional or modern setting:

If you've decorated a room with the popular darker blue shades of 2018, then you can brighten your interior with accents of coral in a lampshade or a throw. It will lift and liven your space adding energy and vibrancy to your home.

- FIRST STEPS IN INTERIOR DESIGN -
SHORT COURSE

I teach this BEGINNERS INTERIOR DESIGN course in collaboration with Oaklands College, based in Saint Albans.

It's a 6 week, once a week, leisure course that will teach you the fundamentals of design to help you create your own beautiful interiors. I take you through all of the important considerations from colour theory to lighting, choosing the right curtains or wallpaper, as well as planning the perfect room space.

Some students come along with a friend as a sociable way of learning something new, others are keen to see if they can make a career out of interior design, and many are looking for expert knowledge and skills to make their homes look gorgeous.

It's a great way to have some personal time away from the hustle of a busy life. You'll go home with loads of knowledge, ideas and inspiration, as each week I tailor activities to help you feel comfortable using your new skills with confidence. Also, at the end of the course you'll have created a mood board design for a room in your own home.

This course is always popular and there are only a few spaces remaining. If you're interested in joining up, or know someone who might be interested, then please forward on this newsletter or sign up soon.
