Incoming students toured campuses and learned about the wide variety of clubs, activities, and extracurricular opportunities available — giving them an exciting preview of life as a high schooler. GGUSD Launches New After-School CTE Career Exploration Experiences

Last week, the district launched new after-school CTE career exploration experiences, with nearly 60 students participating in the very first session.

This six-week after-school program focuses on three high-interest Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways—automotive, culinary arts, and skilled trades—fields that offer strong career opportunities and industry-recognized certifications. The program runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Rancho Alamitos, with a second session planned to begin in March.

Students take part in hands-on, project-based learning taught by industry experts, giving them a firsthand look at career pathways they may choose to pursue in high school and beyond. This opportunity also expands access to GGUSD’s 15 robust Career Pathways, allowing students to explore options that may not be available at their home school.

To ensure access for all, GGUSD is providing transportation as needed, removing barriers so students can fully take advantage of this experience. Programs like this reflect the Board’s strong commitment to career readiness—preparing every student with the skills, confidence, and real-world experience they need for college, career, or both. GGUSD is incredibly proud of the staff, industry partners, and especially the students who made this launch a success from day one.

Enders Elementary Celebrates the 100th Day of School

Last Friday, students at Enders Elementary celebrated the 100th Day of School in the most adorable way—by dressing up as 100-year-olds! From gray hair and glasses to canes and cardigans, students had a blast getting creative while marking 100 days of learning, growth, and fun. What a memorable way to celebrate this milestone!

GGUSD Recognizes January 27 as International Holocaust Remembrance Day

On January 27, GGUSD joined communities around the world in recognizing International Holocaust Remembrance Day. This day honors the millions of lives lost during the Holocaust and serves as a powerful reminder of where hatred and intolerance can lead. Designated by the United Nations General Assembly in 2005, January 27 marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the Nazis’ largest death camp. It is a time to reflect, remember, and recommit to learning from history. GGUSD encourages students, staff, and families to take time on this day to learn about the Holocaust, listen to survivors’ testimonies, and engage in meaningful conversations. By understanding the past and shining a light on its lessons, we help build a safer, more inclusive future for generations to come.

Considering a School Transfer for the 2026–2027 school year?

While most GGUSD students attend their school of residence or the neighborhood school closest to home, GGUSD offers transfer options for families who would like to explore other opportunities. Families living within GGUSD boundaries may apply for an intradistrict transfer, and families living outside GGUSD boundaries may apply for an interdistrict transfer. The 2026–2027 transfer application window is open now through February 13, 2026.

Applications are 100% online—no need to visit the district office or a school site.
