Call for Seed Research Proposals on Artificial Intelligence in Energy & Related Infrastructure
The Artificial Intelligence on Sustainable Energy Infrastructure Network (AI SUSTEIN) project funded through the National Science Foundation Track-2 Focused EPSCoR Collaborations Program calls for seed research funding proposals. AI SUSTEIN is a collaborative project among four U.S. institutions: North Dakota State University (lead institution), University of Arkansas, University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), and Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College.

Application Submission
Please e-mail a single pdf copy of the application package to Eakalak Khan ([email protected]) by 5:00 PM on June 15, 2022. Incomplete or late applications will be returned without review.

Eligibility
  1. Tenure-track assistant professor at UNLV in STEM areas. Women, and members of other underrepresented populations are highly encouraged to apply.
  2. U.S. citizenship and permanent residency are not required.
  3. Research experience in energy related infrastructure and/or artificial intelligence.
 
Funding Information
  1. $20,000 (net/not subjected to F&A) for one year.
  2. Number of awards: at least 1.
  3. Award period: August 15, 2022 to August 14, 2023.
  4. No-cost extension is not allowed.
 
Expectations for Awardee
  1. Submission of an NSF CAREER proposal within 18 months after the start date of the seed funding project.
  2. Participation in 80% of the trainings/workshops for junior faculty organized by AI SUSTEIN (five trainings/workshops per year, two hours or less per event).
  3. Mid-year progress report (1-page limit) and final report within 2 months of the award end date (2-page limit). Formats for the mid-year and final reports will be provided.

Application Outcome Notification
The applicants will be notified of the application outcome via e-mail by July 31, 2022. A brief review will be provided along with the notification.
