Event Recap: Lives in the Balance
From May 17 to 18, PMNCH and CORE Group co-hosted Lives in the Balance: Equity in COVID-19 Response and Recovery in order to coordinate action by partners and governments to help meet the urgent needs of women, children, and adolescents during the COVID-19 crisis and beyond. The summit aimed to reflect on how well countries have been able to implement equity enhancing strategies to protect the health and wellbeing of women, children, and adolescents, particularly those with the least access to social, economic, and political power. The summit also highlighted countries’ commitments to the COVID-19 Call to Action to improve women’s, children’s, and adolescents’ health. The summit website had 933 unique users and 1,240 registrants from 80 countries. The summit hashtags #LivesintheBalance and #COVIDCalltoAction had a reach of 4.2 million

CORE Group Announcements
CORE Group Launches Vaccine Confidence Live Series
"The Role of the Media and Communications in Building Public Confidence in the COVID-19 Vaccine,” brought together speakers from the East Africa Centre for Vaccines and Immunization (ECAVI), First Draft, BBC Media Action-Nigeria, and Nivi, Inc. on June 24 to discuss their organizations’ strategies for sharing accurate information and combatting misinformation. The webinar was the first in CORE Group’s series, Vaccine Confidence Live: Protecting Communities by Transforming Vaccine Hesitancy to Confidence.
Event Recap: Institutionalizing Community Health Conference (ICHC2021)
UNICEF in collaboration with USAID, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Community Health Roadmap, the Community Health Community of Practice (CH-CoP) and CORE Group convened a second Institutionalizing Community Health Conference (ICHC) to take stock of and build on experiences and knowledge since ICHC 2017The conference took place between 19-22 April 2021 and engaged nearly 2,000 participants from 88 countries over the four days. The conference also included two dynamic pre-conference events to facilitate cross-country learning and track progress: "Assessment of Progress in Institutionalizing Community Health within Broader PHC Health Systems" and "Costing Community Health for Improved Planning, Resource Mobilization and Greater Health Impact."
Red Recuperación Launched in Peru
Red Recuperación is an online matching platform powered by the Needslist's software and implemented with the support of CORE Group, Scalabrini International Migration Network (SIMN), Diálogo Diverso, Presente ONG (NGO), and Cooperazione Internazionale (COOPI). The matching platform aggregates the needs of organizations, working with migrants and refugees in Peru affected by the Venezuelan crisis, and matches them with offers from the private sector, public sector, and other organizations. 
 
On May 20, the virtual launch of the platform was carried out, we had the participation of important companies, NGOs, the public sector, and United Nations agencies.

Nutrition: Hosted a webinar focused on
Sustainable Solutions for Disability-Inclusive Nutrition Programs. During this webinar presenters from Smile Train and Spoon discussed barriers to inclusion in nutrition programs, consequences of exclusion, and their experiences with how they have adapted their work during the pandemic.

One Health: Held a webinar for Earth Day with the theme Restoring our Earth through a One Health Approach. An integrated approach to to human, animal, and environmental well-being is needed to achieve Earth‘s recovery and our healthy recovery.

YPN: Held three events for young professionals including a professional development webinar on Giving Effective Video Presentations, a global health trivia night, and A Conversation on Environmental Health and Health Equity with Dr. Joan Casey from Columbia Mailman School of Public Health.

NCD: Held two webinars on Delays in Care for Noncommunicable Diseases During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Challenges and Lessons Learned and Self-Management of Care During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Perspectives, Strategies, and Results. This webinar focused on self-management of care among people living with noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). Perspectives were shared from a frontline health worker and from ProjectHOPE.

World Vision
In coordination with the County Health Department and funding from USAID, World Vision / CORE Group Polio Project was able to conduct 117 outreach vaccination sessions in its supported counties in South Sudan in June 2021. The outreach campaign protected 3,573 children from diseases.
MiracleFeet
Osman Ibrahim Mohamed, one of only four physiotherapists in Somalia, is working to treat clubfoot in children. A 2019 collaboration between MiracleFeet, the Somali Red Crescent Society, and the International Committee of the Red Cross sparked the launch of three clinics in Somalia, which have treated 300 cases in 2021 alone. CARE launched a pro-vaccine ad campaign, reaching 1.44 million people in U.S. states with low vaccine acceptance. Their efforts resulted in a potential 260,000 additional people that now express confidence in COVID-19 vaccines’ safety. CARE is continuing their second ad set that features faith leaders, medical professionals, and celebrities. Read more about CARE’s work here.
Metrics for Management developed an Equity Tool that allows researchers to monitor the distribution of respondents by wealth quintile. Their recent case study in Benin and Côte d’Ivoire used this Equity Tool to track uptake of a regional sanitation project among poor urban residents and assess wealth profiles in two countries.
