Lives in the Balance: A COVID-19 Summit for the Health and Well-Being of Women, Children and Adolescents
On July 1-2, 2020 the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn, & Child Health (PMNCH) and CORE Group co-hosted Lives in the Balance: A COVID-19 Summit for the Health and Well-Being of Women, Children, and Adolescents which welcomed 3,000 viewers for the plenary sessions and over 800 participants globally across breakout and marketplace sessions. We were honored to feature inspiring keynote presentations from Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus, Rt. Honorable Helen Clark, Narjes Shiraghaei, and Maziko Matemvu. The Summit also included lively and exciting cultural performances, slam poetry, and spoken word.

The multi-day summit focused on reflecting on the global response to COVID-19; sharing best practices for COVID-19 response with a variety of stakeholders; and collaborating and acting  to forge a path forward with innovative approaches, new partnerships and an energized community.

Join the COVID-19 Digital Classroom!
Community-based health workers have a vital role to play in preventing, detecting, and responding to the virus , while also ensuring lifesaving primary healthcare continues to be delivered. The COVID-19 Digital Classroom is dedicated to leveraging digital technologies and existing content distribution channels to ensure every health worker has the information they need to help their own communities, wherever in the world they are providing care, from city centers to the last mile.

The COVID-19 Digital Classroom is a partnership between the Community Health Academy at Last Mile Health, CORE Group, Medical Aid Films, TechChange, Translators without Borders, and UNICEF. 

Course materials available in Swahili, Hindi and English.

In case you missed it, t he Health/WASH Network, previously led by PATH has a
new home!

The network has been renamed to the WASH and Health Interest Group and will now be based out of CORE Group. This Interest Group aims to bridge the linkages between health and WASH to reduce preventable deaths.

Technical Working Group & Interest Group Activities
Noncommunicable Diseases: Kicked-off a webinar series focused on the Integration of NCDs into Global Health Programs: A Roadmap Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in 2030. Its first session was on Noncommunicable Diseases and the Decade of Action: Where Are We? Where Are We Going?" Attendees were challenged to think about the roles they can play in integrating NCDs into existing and future global health initiatives and programs.

Nutrition: Continued conducting research on a position paper addressing overweight/obesity in low and middle- income country contexts. The draft position paper is now being reviewed by a Committee from the Nutrition Working Group prior to publication.

Disability-Inclusive: Convened a TAG Meeting to discuss workstream activities, COVID-19 updates, and joint CORE Group TAG and IDDC initiatives.

White Ribbon Alliance
White Ribbon Alliance recently launched the Brave Voices, Bold Actions Podcast . Season one takes a deep dive into respectful maternity care through the lens of the Respectful Maternity Care Charter and features the voices of brave women, girls, health professionals and global leaders, who boldly talk about how to make change, including during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Project Hope
Project HOPE and the Center for Human Rights and Humanitarian Studies at the Watson Institute of Brown University have partnered to deliver a comprehensive free online COVID-19 Training Program for health workers. Module topics include biology and pathophysiology; infection control and prevention; surveillance; screening and triage; diagnosis and management.
Carolina Global Breastfeeding Institute (CGBI)
CGBI launched a COVID-19 Lactation and Infant Feeding in Emergencies (L.I.F.E.™) & Resource Hub . L.I.F.E™ is a hub for research, technical assistance, health communications, policy, advocacy, and training for infant and young child feeding in emergencies. Resources contain key messages for the protection, promotion, and support of breastfeeding, use of donor human milk, and safer use of breast milk substitutes for COVID-19.

CORE Group Home-Based Care Task Force
This guide was designed as a supplemental tool for organizations who coordinate community-based education and support for COVID-19 prevention and response and/or who work specifically with community health workers (CHWs) (including trained community health volunteers) to reach households with one-on-one counselling and information.

The taskforce is currently working on translations to Spanish, French, Russian, Khmer, Arabic, Swahili and Portuguese.
