IRC Sacramento provides intensive case management services to survivors of all forms of human trafficking, along with training and direct outreach to at-risk populations. The program operates across 31 counties in Norther California, from San Joaquin County to the Oregon border. All services and trainings are funding through the Department of Justice Office for Victims of Crime and the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Trafficking in Persons.
Along with the general services offered, IRC Sacramento, in partnership with Wind Youth, LGBT Community Center, and On the Move, run Aiding and Empowering Child Survivors (AECS). AECS provides tailored intensive case management services for minors who have been trafficking for labor, and their families. Using a trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate, rights-based approach to services, minors are able to access support to build stability, referrals to community partners, and financial assistance. Additionally, On the Move runs a Youth Survivor Peer Mentorship group for child survivors looking for peer support. Trainings on child labor, exploitation, and trafficking are also available. AECS also organizes an annual conference on child labor and trafficking available for the state of California.
Transitional housing services are available for adult and youth survivors within the 31 counties through the Rapid Rehousing program (RRHP). Using a low barrier, Housing First approach, the program tailors direct financial assistance plans to the individual needs of each survivor and can provide up to a year of rental assistance. RRHP can also support with security deposits, utilities, move-in costs, and household items. Caseworkers support the client in identifying their housing needs and finding the right home for themselves and their families. Clients can choose to engage in optional housing support case management or engage in intensive case management through the other programs. If needed, clients can access additional financial assistance for permanent housing placements
