US Agency for International Development Payne Fellowship Program - now open for applications!
The Payne Fellowship Program provides full funding (up to $48K annually) for two years of graduate study at any US institution. Fellows who successfully complete the program and USAID Foreign Service entry requirements will receive appointments as Foreign Service Officers upon conclusion of the program. The Washington, D.C. office of Representative Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18) is seeking a press fellow to work remotely this fall and assist with an aggressive and fast-paced communications operation. This is not a traditional Hill internship. Applicants must have strong writing, editing, and digital communication skills. Ideal candidates are college students, recent graduates, or graduate students with prior experience working on the Hill, creating content, and writing under tight deadlines. Fellowship is paid and highly competitive. It traditionally runs from September to December. Minorities, women, and LGBTQ persons are strongly encouraged to apply. This job will be remote. U.S. Senator Tom Carper (D-Del.) is accepting Fall Term internship applications for his Washington, DC office. This legislative internship presents an opportunity for both a unique learning experience and an inside look at the lawmaking process on Capitol Hill. Candidates should possess strong writing and research skills, and a demonstrated interest in American politics. Undergraduate and graduate students, as well as recent graduates, are encouraged to apply. Delaware ties are a plus. Senior Democratic member from California seeks interns for the Fall 2020 semester in a fast-paced Congressional Office where they will gain valuable exposure to and knowledge of the legislative process and the United States Congress. Applicants should be positive, motivated, organized and reliable individuals willing to assist with the legislative and administrative needs of the staff. Duties include compiling press clips, attending briefings and hearings, performing legislative research and various other tasks to assist staff. Applicants must have strong written and oral communication skills. Successful interns will be able to find information with little assistance, be able to work both independently as well as part of a team environment, and possess a strong attention to detail. Northern California connections preferable. This will be a remote internship. The Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee (Ranking Member Ben Cardin, D-MD) Minority office is seeking applicants for a full-time or part-time virtual internship starting in September 2020. Responsibilities will include tracking legislation, monitoring committee hearings, and assisting with press clippings. The internship provides an inside look on how a Senate Committee works to pass legislation and conducts oversight on federal agencies, programs, and policy implementation. The ideal candidate would be a detail-oriented self-starter, with strong research and writing skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced office. Applicants must be able to work virtually. A background in business is not required, but candidates should have an interest in small businesses. Maryland ties are a plus. Responsibilities include drafting news releases, social media posts, op-eds and talking points; designing graphics for both social media and web content; monitoring social media for trending topics; maintaining and updating press lists; and compiling daily press clips. Qualified candidates must have excellent written and oral communication skills, a proven ability to perform under pressure while juggling multiple tasks and sound political judgment.
