The Office of Congressman Jared Huffman (D-CA) seeks a Press/Digital Fellow. Qualified candidates will have strong writing, editing, and social media skills, as well as basic familiarity with graphic design/video editing software. One to two years of experience in a press or digital media role (including internships) preferred. California ties are a plus! This position requires the ability to thrive under pressure, multi-task, and work in a team environment. Candidates must have strong written and verbal communication skills, with the desire to come up with creative communications ideas and the ability to work under tight deadlines. The fellow will work closely with the Communications Director and the legislative staff of Congressman Huffman. The staff assistant will also assist and oversee the office's internship program. Attention to detail is a must. Southern ties and a vehicle are preferred. U.S. Congressman Ed Case (Hawai’i - 01) is seeking an experienced Staff/Constituent Services Assistant for his Honolulu district office. Duties include but are not limited to greeting visitors and answering constituent calls and requests for general information, tours, and other inquiries. This position also is responsible for a wide variety of administrative duties, and acts as a liaison to federal, district, and local government agencies on behalf of the Congressman on requests by constituents for assistance with individual issues. Direct report to the Deputy Chief of Staff in the Honolulu office, although the position also interacts directly with the Congressman and his Washington, D.C. office. Very strong preference given to (1) prior experience especially in comparable duties and (2) Hawai’i background/community involvement, and applicants are asked to detail these attributes. The position also requires initiative, strong interpersonal skills, the ability to multitask, work independently and effectively under pressure, make decisions and solve problems, orientation to detail, excellent verbal communication and writing skills, and long and unpredictable hours. The Democratic staff of the U.S. Congress Joint Economic Committee seeks a Research Assistant to help committee staff research and fact-check reports, policy briefs, hearing memos, charts and other documents. A qualified candidate has a bachelor’s or master’s degree in economics, political science, policy, sociology or a related degree. In addition, he or she should have excellent analytical and writing skills; an ability to process and simplify complex issues; meticulous attention to detail and an ability to handle multiple projects and short deadlines simultaneously. He or she should have proficiency with STATA. Python or R is a plus. Experience with federal data sources, including survey microdata (such as the ACS or CPS) or BEA/BLS data, is preferred. GIS experience would be very helpful.
