CROSSROADS STUDENT CORNER

Welcome Dear Crossroads Students and Families, I hope you all are doing well this week and that you are staying safe and healthy at home! I have been praying for all of you during this season of loss that we are experiencing. Not being able to see friends, go to planned events, and not knowing when this will all be over hasn't been easy on me and I'm sure you are feeling the weight of it as well. I'm assuming school has kept you all busy and I have been praying for you all during the transition to online classes, as I know it is a big adjustment to make. I am currently experiencing that transition with my college classes and it has been interesting to say the least. I will continue to be looking for resources for all of you that will be put up on our Intersect at Home webpage. This will include songs, coloring pages, weekly activities, and more so be sure to check it out if you find yourself getting bored at home.  This week I have been reflecting on the scripture below about Jesus (and Peter) walking on water. I invite you to read it over and to either write a reflection on the questions below or have a conversation with a family member about them. In the future as I continue praying for you all if you have any specific prayer requests, submit them here so that I and other intersect guides can pray for you. Weekly Scripture Reflection: Matthew 14:28-33 ESV And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.”   He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus.   But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

Weekly Scripture Reflection Questions Can you think of a time when you felt the storm around you was too strong and you became afraid? How did you call out to Jesus in that time and where did you see Jesus? Why is it so easy for followers of Jesus to doubt Him in a time of uncertainty? In what ways this week can you call out to Jesus amongst the chaos?

Fun Activity to Fight Cabin Fever! Grocery stores are a little hectic at the minute, but here is a recipe for a nice treat with things that are easy to find or are somewhere in the pantry. 

Intersect Activity: 4/5/2020 This week's intersect activity is titled Welcoming Peace . This Sunday is what many Christians call Palm Sunday. We will be reflecting on the celebration of Jesus arriving in Jerusalem. When you have a moment, print this out and read it over by yourself or as a family and reflect on the questions provided.

The Serenity Prayer is a simple but powerful prayer for these days at home.  God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change The courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference. Amen.

Controlling What You Can  Finding the good in the chaos- Since we are all at home, more people are spending time outside and with their families. Make a new normal- If you're like me and need routine, set a schedule for yourself: meals, schoolwork, free time, etc. Have a serving heart- Help your parents clean around the house, mow an elderly neighbors lawn, call a family member that lives far away.
